1ஆ, உமது நாமத்தை எதிரிகளுக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துவதற்கும், தேசங்கள் உம்முடைய சந்நிதிக்கு முன் தத்தளிப்பதற்கும், 2தேவரீர் வானங்களைக் கிழித்து இறங்கி, உருக்கும் அக்கினி எரிவதைப்போலவும், நெருப்பு தண்ணீரைப் பொங்கச் செய்வதைப்போலவும், மலைகள் உமக்கு முன்பாக உருகும்படி செய்யும். 3நாங்கள் எதிர்பார்த்திராத பயங்கரமான காரியங்களை நீர் செய்தபோது, நீர் இறங்கினீர், உமது சந்நிதியில் மலைகள் உருகிப்போயின. 4தேவனே, உமக்குக் காத்திருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நீர் செய்பவைகளை, நீரேயல்லாமல் உலகத்தோற்றமுதற்கொண்டு ஒருவரும் கேட்டதுமில்லை, செவியால் உணர்ந்ததுமில்லை, அவைகளைக் கண்டதுமில்லை. 5மகிழ்ச்சியாக நீதியைச் செய்கிறவர்களையும், உம்முடைய வழிகளில் உம்மை நினைக்கிறவர்களையும் சந்திக்கிறீர்; நாங்களோ, அவைகளுக்கு விரோதமாக எப்பொழுதும் பாவஞ்செய்தபடியினாலே, தேவரீர் கடுங்கோபங்கொண்டீர்; இன்னமும் தப்பியிருக்கிறோம். 6நாங்கள் அனைவரும் தீட்டானவர்கள்போல இருக்கிறோம்; எங்களுடைய நீதிகளெல்லாம் அழுக்கான கிழிந்த ஆடையைப்போல இருக்கிறது, நாங்கள் அனைவரும் இலைகளைப்போல் உதிருகிறோம்; எங்களுடைய அக்கிரமங்கள் எங்களைக் காற்றைப்போல் அடித்துக்கொண்டுபோகிறது. 7உமது நாமத்தை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிறவனும், உம்மைப் பற்றிக்கொள்வதற்கு விழித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவனும் இல்லை; தேவரீர் உம்முடைய முகத்தை எங்களை விட்டு மறைத்து, எங்கள் அக்கிரமங்களின்காரணமாக எங்களைக் கறையச்செய்கிறீர். 8இப்பொழுதும் யெகோவாவே, நீர் எங்களுடைய பிதா, நாங்கள் களிமண்; நீர் எங்களை உருவாக்குகிறவர், நாங்கள் அனைவரும் உமது கரத்தின்செயல். 9யெகோவாவே, அதிகமாகக் கடுங்கோபங்கொள்ளாமலும், என்றைக்கும் அக்கிரமத்தை நினைத்துக்கொள்ளாமலும் இருப்பீராக; இதோ, பாரும், நாங்கள் அனைவரும் உம்முடைய மக்களே. 10உமது பரிசுத்த பட்டணங்கள் வனாந்திரமாயின; சீயோன் வனாந்திரமாயிற்று; எருசலேம் பாழாய்க் கிடக்கிறது. 11எங்கள் முன்னோர்கள் உம்மைத் துதித்த பரிசுத்தமும் மகிமையுமான எங்களுடைய ஆலயம் நெருப்பிற்கு இரையாகி, இன்பமான எங்களுடைய இடங்களெல்லாம் பாழாயின. 12யெகோவாவே, இவைகள் இப்படியிருந்தும் அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருப்பீரோ? மவுனமாயிருந்து, அதிகமாக எங்களைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்துவீரோ?
Introduction
Isaiah 64
This chapter goes on with that pathetic pleading prayer which the church offered up to God in the latter part of the foregoing chapter. They had argued from their covenant-relation to God and his interest and concern in them; now here, I. They pray that God would appear in some remarkable and surprising manner for them against his and their enemies (Isa 64:1, Isa 64:2). II. They plead what God had formerly done, and was always ready to do, for his people (Isa 64:3-5). III. They confess themselves to be sinful and unworthy of God's favour, and that they had deserved the judgments they were now under (Isa 64:6, Isa 64:7). IV. They refer themselves to the mercy of God as a Father, and submit themselves to his sovereignty (Isa 64:8). V. They represent the very deplorable condition they were in, and earnestly pray for the pardon of sin and the turning away of God's anger (Isa 64:9-12). And this was not only intended for the use of the captive Jews, but may serve for direction to the church in other times of distress, what to ask of God and how to plead with him. Are God's people at any time in affliction, in great affliction? Let them pray, let them thus pray.
